Error 2110-1118 is not automatically a failed part
On a Switch, 2110-1118 is one of the codes the console shows when it cannot bring its wireless module up. A firmware problem can produce exactly the same code as failed hardware, so we test the software side first — and if that is all it was, there is nothing to pay for the finding.
- The wireless module carries Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in one part
- A failed update can look identical to a failed module from the outside
- We test the software path first, because that fix is the free one

What the fault turns out to be
Fitted prices including the part and the labour, quoted after the assessment so you are paying for the cause rather than the symptom.
| Fault | Fitted price |
|---|---|
| Antenna or connector reseat The module is sound but no longer connected properly | C$90 |
| Wireless module replacement The usual answer for a module that has failed | C$130 |
| Board-level repair The damage is around the module rather than inside it | C$160 |
If the assessment shows the module is fine and the fault was software, the price is nothing. That outcome is genuinely common with this symptom, which is why the software test comes first.
How we diagnose it
The order here is deliberate: the free explanations are eliminated before the paid ones, so a software fault never gets billed as a module replacement.
-
Step 1:Test the software first
Firmware and network settings are checked before the console is opened. If the module is sound, this is the whole fix and there is nothing to pay.
-
Step 2:Test the module
The wireless module is tested and its connection to the board measured, separating a module that has failed from one that is healthy but no longer reachable.
-
Step 3:Replace or repair
A failed module is replaced; a damaged connector or track is repaired at board level. Which one applies decides the price, and you hear it before we start.
-
Step 4:Test both radios
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are tested afterwards, because they share the same part. If Bluetooth is still dropping out, the repair is not finished.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are one module, not two
Because both radios live in the same part, a module that has failed usually takes both with it. If your Joy-Con have started dropping out as well, that is the same fault rather than a second one — and it is useful evidence, because a console with no Wi-Fi but perfect Bluetooth is more likely to have a software or antenna problem than a dead module.
- Joy-Con pairing problems alongside Wi-Fi problems point at one cause, not two
- If the Joy-Con are detected but will not pair, that is the wireless module rather than the rail
- Impact and liquid are the two ways this module usually dies
Wi-Fi questions
Is error 2110-1118 definitely a hardware fault?
No, and that is the important part. It is a code the console shows when it cannot bring the wireless module up, and firmware problems produce it too. We test the software side first precisely because that outcome is common — and free.
Why have my Joy-Con started dropping out as well?
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth share one module, so when it fails both radios go with it. Joy-Con that will not pair or that cut out alongside Wi-Fi trouble are usually the same fault, not a separate one.
Could a drop have caused this?
Yes. Impact can crack the module, dislodge the antenna or break the solder holding either in place, and liquid reaching that area does the same thing slowly. The diagnosis looks for which of those happened, because they cost different amounts to put right.
It works next to the router but drops downstairs. Is that a fault?
Often not. Reach problems are usually antenna design and interference rather than a failed module, and no repair changes how a house is built. We will tell you if the console is within normal range rather than sell you a module.
Will I have to set my Wi-Fi up again?
Yes, the console will need your network adding back, and that is the extent of it. Your games, saves and account are untouched.
What if the repair does not fix it?
Then you pay nothing. If a replacement module does not restore the connection, the fault was somewhere we did not expect, and that is our problem rather than your bill.
Tell us which error code you see
The exact code, and whether Bluetooth is also affected, narrows this down before we even have the console. The assessment is free and the software test comes first.
